Masterson’s Tavern , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , brands itself as a fashionable, contemporary hangout, but my recent visit at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I discovered behind its doors was appalling and beyond comprehension .
The State of Affairs: Squalid and Disregarded
From the moment I entered , it was evident that cleanliness was not a priority at this bar . The floors were sticky , and a overpowering stench of stale beer and uncleaned toilets permeated the entire pub. Reeking of a mixture of human waste, putrefaction and sour vomit . The counter , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and debris that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The bathroom was in even a more revolting state — clogged , with a broken handle and walls stained in what I can only assume was feces.

Based on the experiences shared online and speaking with locals , it seems that the standard of sanitation (or lack thereof) at this so-called establishment is a persistent problem . Many visitors have reported observing cockroaches darting across the drink station and signs of rats in the additional resources bar and house area . For a business that provides refreshments , these issues are completely unacceptable and raise serious concerns about the quality of anything they serve .
